The Atlanta Hawks have been in talks with the Los Angeles Lakers about a potential trade that would send Dennis Schroder to L.A. for Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov.

Dennis Schroder’s patience with the Los Angeles Lakers seems to be wearing thin, and he may have played his last game in purple and gold.
Schroder is an unrestricted free agent who had decent statistics last season, averaging 15.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. However, consistency was not always there, and he finished the year on a sour note, burning out in the playoffs with a pair of poor showings.
After serving as a sixth man in Oklahoma City before to the deal that brought him to LA, the Lakers offered Schroder a chance to play in the starting lineup. According to Marc Stein of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers are done throwing Schroder out as the starter and believe he is overvaluing himself with the $100 million figure flying about.
On Chad Ford’s NBA Big Board, Stein stated, “The simplest thing would be re-signing Dennis Schroder, but Dennis Schroder wants insane money.” “Dennis Schroder believes he is worth $100 million. He’s previously turned down a $80 million contract, and the feeling from the Lakers is that they’d prefer move on from Schroder. They don’t seem to think of Schroder as a starter. I believe they appreciate him as a sixth man, but they want more from their primary backcourt player.”

Different people have different perspectives about Schroder’s future.
Despite reports to the contrary, the Lakers will find it difficult to find a suitable replacement for Schroder as their primary point guard due to the team’s lack of assets and restricted budget space.
Schroder, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, is the best choice for the Lakers right now.
On the Woj and Lowe program, Wojnarowski stated, “They can’t replace [Dennis Schroder] if he departs.” “Almost every club in the league has been offered some mix of Kuz and KCP, according to the people I’ve spoken to. And it isn’t going to bring them a point guard of Dennis’ caliber back. I still believe a deal can be worked out for him to remain with the Lakers.”
Schroder Wants to Bring the Lakers Back to the Playoffs
Despite declining the contract deal during the season, Schroder has said publicly that he wants to return to the Lakers and win a title.
At the conclusion of the season, Schroder told reporters, “I read so many things on Instagram.” “At the end of the day, this is my eighth season in the NBA, and I simply wanted to make my own choice – once and for all,” he said. ‘I want to re-sign with the Lakers,’ or ‘I want to go someplace else,’ is all it takes. That’s all there is to it.
“They didn’t do anything to me, the Lakers. They’re fantastic; they have the top two players, and everyone in the locker room is fantastic, therefore, as I already said, I want to stay here and help them win a championship. That isn’t even a query.”
So, if Schroder really wants to return to Los Angeles, it all comes down to how big of a salary reduction he’s prepared to accept in order to stay.
