Barcelona is said to be working on a contentious third uniform for the 2023-23 season, with the color scheme likely to surprise fans.
The designs for next season have been leaked to the Catalan daily newspaper Mundo Deportivo, who have showed off what Barcelona is likely to wear as a third jersey, as shown below.
Although the article identifies it as “sky gray,” the strip seems to be mainly white, the same color as bitter rival Real Madrid. The shirt also has a large Saint Jordi Cross running down the front.
White may come as a surprise to Barcelona supporters, although it has been worn by the club on many occasions in the past. From 1899 until 1910, the club’s jerseys and stockings were white, according to Footy Headlines.
From 1910 to 1920, the color was also utilized as an away kit, as well as in the 1950s and 1978-79. Johan Cruyff was even seen wearing white while playing for Barcelona in the UEFA Cup against Aston Villa.
Since then, the hue has not been seen on a Barcelona shirt, but it seems that it may make a return next season under president Joan Laporta.
